Many young people today know more about international pop and movie stars than about famous people in the history of their countries.

Why is this? What can be done to increase young people's interest in famous people in the history of their countries?

The first reason may be that those stars have greater media exposure.

* 第1句是是“浓缩概括”的方式引出第1个原因的“总”想法：“greater media exposure”。

The TV adverts and billboards that promote those celebrities are so ubiquitous that young people cannot avoid them.

* 第2句是对于第1句的“展开”。在展开的过程中，一定要注意找准对象：“greater media exposure”。句中，“The TV adverts and billboards”细化了“media”，“ubiquitous”以及“cannot avoid”细化了“greater”。

Second, history may be a heavy subject, stressful, and may cause sorrow.

* 第3句第二个理由的“论证起点”，说出history的特点。

Many of those significant people made history with great personal sacrifice. When they are mentioned, there are often blood and tears.

* 第4、5句是对于第3句的“展开”。在展开的过程中，“great personal sacrifice”以及“blood and tears”细化说明了“a heavy subject, stressful, … sorrow”。

Younger generations may be overprotected from such things, or they deliberately escape such things.

* 第6句根据第4、5句的内容“往后说”，解释了第4句所说的事情所产生的影响。此时，论证就点题了。

By contrast, what those pop stars do is entertaining and relaxing, satisfying young people’s appetite.

三、词汇维度（LR）：

四、语法和句型维度（GRA）：

* 第1句是“主—系—表”结构，其中表语是名词性从句，即常说的“表语从句”。

* 第2句中，so … that … 构成一个句型。其中，so是表达程度的副词，修饰主句中表语的程度，that引导结果状语从句。

* 第3、4、5、6句都是常规句型。

* 第7句中，结尾是动词分词引导的伴随状语，伴随状语所说的事情是跟着主句里的事情进而发生的，所以叫“伴随”。
